About the role:
Enphase Energy currently incorporates a bi-directional storage backup system for homes to provide seamless power transitions. These are interfaced with grid, Micro inverters and LiFePO4 based batteries. These Energy storage systems solutions are for the residential and commercial segment with international compliance standards.
As a Sr Staff Engineer-Hardware-Product Engineering, the candidate will be responsible for owning the HW Engineering activities of the IQ Gateway, IQ System Controllers, Micro-Inverters and IQ Combiners. This includes New Product Design, proposing solutions, Design improvements, Design root cause analysis for mitigating failures, Alternate component qualification and compliance support. Work closely with all cross functional teams like FW, Reliability, Quality, Mfg and Supply Chain and drive towards solution deployment into the field.
What you will doing
- Prime involvement is in the Leading of Product Engineering activities that includes New Product Design, Root cause analysis, Design Analysis and recommending solutions, Design verification & validation, functional testing.
- Lead a team of 5 or 6 Sr Hardware Engineers.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems and also drive execution to get results.
- Drive alternate components analysis and qualification.
- Fair idea about FW algorithms required on embedded systems.
- Able to handle various stages of the life cycle of a product with ownership and accountability.
- Work collaboratively with cross functional teams like PCB design team, compliance team,Manufacturing teams,various DVT teams to ensure design meets all requirements. Co-ordinate with the team on pre-compliance, final compliance tests and with reliability team on reliability tests.
- Write Engineering Requirements, Test Plans and Validation Reports to fill the gaps.

Who you are and what you bring
- BE/BTech/M.Tech- Electrical or Electronics Engineering a minimum of 14+ years’ experience in Hardware New Product Design and design upgrades to meet quality.
- Handson experience in Power designs like Converters (AC-DC, DC-DC), Inverters, Battery storage associated HW like Battery controllers, BMU.
- Deep knowledge on Electrical fundamentals, Power Electronics, Analog & Digital design, should have basic understanding of firmware
- Experience HW/FW/SW co-design which includes relay controls, Gateway designs and ASIC
- Preferred experience from industries working in Power Electronics products, Energy Storage, Renewables HW, Switchgears or Electric Vehicles.
- Experience in using CAD tools for schematic capture and review PCB Placement and layouts
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Practical experience of in-depth bench testing, V&V testing, and debugging of hardware designs
- Understanding and application of EMI-EMC, Safety & Performance Test concepts into design solutions
- Familiarity with the UL & IEC standards on safety & EMI/EMC – IEC61010, 61000-4, 61326-1 etc.
- Must have Hands-on and familiar with Lab equipment like oscilloscope, Power sources, Electronic Loads etc.
- Good skills with Modelling & simulation tools like LTSpice, TiNA, PSIM etc.
